Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson remain bound tightly together nearly three decades after their divorce, with new reports suggesting that financial dependence plays as much of a role in their closeness as personal loyalty. An insider told Heat Magazine that the Duke and Duchess of York’s long-standing connection is rooted in what they described as a “deeply co-dependent” relationship.
Despite Andrew’s controversies and Ferguson’s own public scandals, the pair have continued to live closely linked lives at Royal Lodge, the Windsor residence they share. “These two couldn’t possibly function without being front and centre in each other’s lives, the co-dependency goes both ways, and to be fair, they’re totally devoted,” the source explained.
But according to the insider, practical matters are equally central to their partnership. “Of course, the more cynical interpretation is that they’re bound together financially more than anything, especially right now,” the source said. The couple is said to share almost every aspect of their daily expenses.

“He’s always offered her security and connections to help fund her projects, and it certainly benefits them from a tax point of view to merge their affairs and go halves on as many costs as possible,” the insider added.
That arrangement reportedly extends to household staff, legal services, accountants, cars, and even groceries. Beyond the financial ties, the two are also described as each other’s “de facto therapists,” providing emotional support in the face of constant scrutiny.
Prince Andrew, once a senior working royal, stepped back from public duties in 2019 amid widespread outrage over his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Calls for Andrew and Ferguson to leave Royal Lodge have grown louder in recent months, particularly after resurfaced emails linked Ferguson to Epstein as well.
For now, eviction remains a looming threat. “If the worst comes to worst and they’re booted from Royal Lodge, then they’d most certainly look to move in somewhere else together,” the source suggested.

The relationship between Andrew and Ferguson has long fascinated the British public. Married in 1986, they divorced in 1996, but never truly separated their lives. The Duchess, known as “Fergie,” has often defended Andrew publicly, even during his most damaging scandals.
Whether their bond stems more from financial convenience or lasting devotion, the former royal couple appear inseparable. For Andrew and Ferguson, co-dependence — in money, lifestyle, and loyalty — has become the foundation of a relationship that has endured where others in royal circles have not.
