Sen. Lindsey Graham recently brought up some old, uncomfortable rumors about Donald Trump during an interview on Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo. The South Carolina Republican was discussing the indictment of former FBI director James Comey over his alleged involvement in the Russiagate investigation.
Graham didn’t stop there, however. He went on to delve into the infamous Steele dossier and its claims about Trump’s supposed ties to Russia, including the now widely known “golden shower” allegations involving sex workers. When asked about Comey, Graham said, “Well, I think it’s a long time overdue to hold somebody accountable for Crossfire Hurricane, the most corrupt investigation in the history of the country, not just the FBI.”
He continued, saying that the investigation was just the “tip of the iceberg,” though he added that Comey is “presumed innocent until proven otherwise.” Graham also made a point of saying that if he were part of the Department of Justice, he’d make sure the best lawyers were handling the case, specifically mentioning Patrick Fitzgerald, Comey’s lawyer, as someone to be wary of, according to Yahoo.

As the conversation turned to Comey’s alleged role in Russia-related matters, Graham didn’t hold back, accusing the former FBI director of working with Russia to interfere with the 2016 election. He added that the narrative about Trump’s connections to Russia, including the scandalous “golden shower” claims, was part of a plan pushed by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
“Comey was in a meeting with Obama and Brennan and others—the vice president, Biden—where there was intelligence presented that it was designed by Hillary Clinton, the narrative,” Graham claimed. “Her campaign was starting the narrative that Trump was associated with Russia to get away from the fallout of the email server scandal,” he continued.

Graham further elaborated, claiming that Comey had received a memo in September 2016 that suggested Hillary Clinton’s campaign was behind the plan to link Trump to Russia to deflect from the email server issue. According to Graham, this intelligence lead was a critical part of the investigation, though he said Comey didn’t seem to recall it when asked during a 2020 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
By reviving these details, Graham is again casting a harsh light on the origins of the Russiagate investigation and the role that Clinton’s camp may have played. Despite the years that have passed, the senator seems determined to keep pushing the narrative that Clinton’s campaign orchestrated the controversy surrounding Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.
