Prince Harry has appeared determined to block out outside criticism, keeping his attention on his family and his relationship with his father, King Charles. The Duke of Sussex reunited with his father for the first time in 19 months during a private tea at Clarence House last week.
The visit took place as part of Harry’s four-day trip to the United Kingdom, where he also met with the organizations he continues to support through his patronages. Only hours after his meeting with the King, Harry traveled to Ukraine with representatives from his Invictus Games Foundation. Speaking with The Guardian during the trip, Harry emphasized the importance of focusing on his father in the months ahead.
“The focus really has to be on my dad,” he said, while acknowledging his ongoing frustrations over security arrangements. Harry also pushed back against a persistent narrative in the British press that portrays him as “unhappy” since stepping away from royal life.

He insisted the claim was false, though he admitted he hopes to spend more time in the United Kingdom moving forward. Royal experts, however, remain skeptical about reconciliation. Some have argued that King Charles may take a long time to fully trust his younger son again, while others have suggested that genuine reconciliation is unlikely despite their meeting last week.
Harry dismissed that skepticism, insisting truth must come before any healing. “You cannot have reconciliation before you have truth,” he said. The duke also addressed the lingering controversy surrounding his memoir Spare, which was widely seen as intensifying the rift within the royal family.
Critics claimed the book exposed private matters, but Harry defended its publication. “I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative,” he explained. “The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”

He further insisted that his account was not intended to air personal grievances. “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear,” he told the outlet.
Harry’s words reflect his intent to focus on family and responsibilities, even as speculation about his relationship with the monarchy continues to dominate headlines.
