“Mom’s always wanted me to stay with the wrong guy ‘cause they’re hot,” Miley said, appearing to reference her former relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth. Rather than denying the claim, Tish laughed and responded, “At least you get to look at somebody that’s frigging hot.”
Miley admitted that she eventually realized the flaw in that advice. “I had to learn that the hard way because my mommy taught me the wrong way, and then I had to learn the right way by myself,” she explained.
Now 31, Miley said her perspective has shifted. She values respect and kindness in a partner above everything else. “I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me,” she said, likely referring to her current partner, drummer Maxx Morando.
Her sister Noah echoed the sentiment, stressing that respect should be the foundation of any relationship. Brandi, meanwhile, defended their mother’s earlier views, suggesting that Tish’s perspective has changed over time.
The family laughed together as Miley joked that their mom had finally found someone who met both sets of standards. “She finally found someone who’s hot and respects her, that’s the goal,” she said, referencing Tish’s marriage to actor Dominic Purcell.
