Wendy Williams Says, “I Will Get Out of Guardianship,” Eyes Speaking Tour

Wendy Williams has no plans to return to daytime television, but she may soon be stepping onto a different kind of stage. The former talk show host is exploring the idea of a nationwide speaking tour aimed at drawing attention to what she calls an “abusive” guardianship system.

In an interview with Extra, Williams’ attorney Joe Tacopina explained that she wants to use her voice to shed light on a system that, in her view, unfairly strips individuals of control over their lives.

“It’s just so unjust, and quite despicable,” Tacopina said. “Wendy has told me, ‘If someone is going to be in this situation, better me with a platform, so I can expose the system.’”

Friends close to Williams confirmed she has been discussing plans to hold panels and public forums to educate families about the risks associated with guardianships. One insider told Page Six, “If there’s one thing Wendy knows how to do, it’s talk. She wants to bring this issue to the stage.”

Williams is still contesting her guardianship, which was established following reports that she has frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She has denied those claims. Her attorney has argued that the report was improperly leaked and emphasized that Williams has not yet undergone an independent medical evaluation.

Tacopina, who has represented high-profile clients such as A$AP Rocky and Donald Trump, said the current legal arrangement is unjust and vowed to challenge it on her behalf.

Williams herself has been vocal in recent weeks. While speaking with reporters during an outing in New York, she questioned the accuracy of the reports about her condition. “Do I sound like I have dementia to you?” she asked, before adding with confidence, “I will get out of guardianship.”

For now, Williams has no intention of returning to television. Instead, she appears focused on turning her personal battle into a broader conversation. By stepping away from the talk show format and into public advocacy, she hopes to spark debate, encourage reform, and provide families with information about a system she believes is deeply flawed.

At a time when she is fighting for her own independence, Williams is signaling that she intends to do more than just defend herself—she wants to become a voice for others caught in the same struggle.
