Prince Harry Faces Pressure As US Visa Documents Reviewed By Court

Prince Harry’s US visa application is under scrutiny as new details emerge about the number of government documents connected to his case. Reports indicate that the Department of State is holding more than 1,000 papers related to the matter, raising questions about what may eventually be made public.

According to court filings cited by outlets including Express, the documents are spread across several divisions of the State Department. The Office of the Secretary of State is reported to hold 217 papers, while the Bureau of Consular Affairs is responsible for 517 “potentially responsive records.”

An additional 271 documents are in the hands of the Office of Legal Advisor, with two more belonging to the Office of the Deputy Secretary of State. The issue now rests with a federal judge in Washington, who will review the material and determine whether any of it should be released publicly.

The case has drawn international attention because of the prince’s high-profile status and the sensitivity of visa applications. Samuel Dewey, an attorney representing the Heritage Foundation, weighed in on the matter, pointing to the significance of the volume of records. “The number of papers on Harry shows they are monitoring him pretty closely,” Dewey said.

He suggested that while some documents might eventually come to light, others may remain confidential due to legal protections. “I think we’re going to see documents from Harry talking about the case, but other material may be withheld. Then it will be up to politicians whether that decision is overruled,” he added.

The Heritage Foundation has been pressing for greater transparency over Prince Harry’s visa status, particularly in light of his own past admissions of drug use in interviews and his memoir. US law can restrict entry for foreign nationals with a history of drug use, though officials have not confirmed whether that applies to Harry’s circumstances.

The unfolding legal battle highlights both the complexity of US immigration rules and the political interest surrounding a member of the British royal family residing in America. Since stepping down from official duties in 2020, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have lived in California, where they have built business and media ventures.

For now, the final word lies with the court. Any decision on what documents are released could have implications not only for Prince Harry’s immigration status but also for the broader debate about transparency in high-profile visa cases.
