Pete Davidson has opened up about the challenges that fame has placed on his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt’s pregnancy journey, admitting that he feels “guilty” for thrusting her into the public eye during what should be a private and joyful time.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club podcast, the comedian revealed that the constant spotlight is taking a toll on both of them. “I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s–t. Anything we do or she does now is gonna be a thing,” Davidson explained.
Davidson, who is no stranger to the public eye, acknowledged that both he and Hewitt prefer to live a quiet life, but his fame has made that nearly impossible. The 31-year-old comedian expressed how much he empathizes with Hewitt, saying, “I feel really bad because … she’s a very private person and she’s the one going through it. She’s the one doing all the work.”
Davidson added, “It’s supposed to be a beautiful experience,” but also noted that Hewitt has never made him feel guilty. “She’s never complained,” he said, emphasizing her understanding and patience.
However, Davidson couldn’t shake the feeling that his public life had taken something away from her. “I feel so guilty and horrible that in any way, shape, or form … I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy,” he admitted.
Despite his concerns, Davidson assured listeners that Hewitt has always been supportive. “Luckily, she loves me and knows what comes with me, and we’ve talked about it before we were fully in a relationship, but I really feel s–tty for her in that aspect.”
The comedian also revealed that Hewitt initially wanted to keep their pregnancy a secret for longer but ultimately felt pressured to go public. “She didn’t want to post the announcement in July, Davidson explained, adding, “We were not given a choice.”
Hewitt later confirmed the news herself on Instagram with a playful post, writing, “welp now everyone knows we had s*x.” As the couple prepares for their first child together, sources close to Davidson say he is embracing fatherhood with excitement.
“Pete is so excited for this next chapter,” an insider told Page Six, adding that Davidson’s family is equally thrilled to welcome the new baby. Despite the pressures of fame, Davidson and Hewitt are clearly ready to start this new chapter of their lives together.
