Jason Momoa is stepping back into the role of Duncan Idaho for Dune: Part Three, and he’s doing it with a fresh face—literally. The Aquaman star recently shared a video of himself shaving off his signature beard for the first time in six years, drawing a strong personal reaction.
“Goddamnit, I hate it!” Momoa exclaimed after completing the shave, offering fans a candid glimpse of his feelings toward his new look. The actor’s bold grooming change marks his physical return to the character of Duncan Idaho, a loyal warrior of House Atreides and a fan-favorite figure in the epic sci-fi saga.
In a caption alongside the video, Momoa wrote, “Haven’t shaved in six years, and here we are again.” He took the opportunity to connect his personal transformation with a cause close to his heart—environmental sustainability.
The actor highlighted his ongoing work with Mananalu, the sustainable water company he launched to combat plastic waste. “We’re taking it even further,” he noted, “partnering with our team at @Getboomerangwater to bring in a closed-loop system that sanitizes and bottles water onsite.”

He continued, “That means even less waste, reduced shipping footprint, and our aluminum bottles get reused over and over. This is the future, and we’re starting in Hawai’i.” Momoa concluded the post with a heartfelt message: “Let’s get rid of single-use plastic. For our children and for our planet. All my aloha, j.”
The beard removal isn’t the first time Momoa has undergone the transformation for the role. He previously shaved his face for Dune: Part One, where his portrayal of Duncan Idaho was widely praised for its intensity and charisma.
The upcoming Dune: Part Three, slated for theatrical release on December 18, 2026, will continue the saga based on Frank Herbert’s science fiction masterpiece. The new film is expected to feature returning stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, and Javier Bardem, all of whom played central roles in the franchise’s critically acclaimed first two installments.
While Momoa may not love his new clean-shaven appearance, fans are eager to see him reprise his role in the sprawling intergalactic drama. His blend of passion for performance and advocacy for the planet continues to captivate both moviegoers and environmentalists alike.
