As speculation swirls about a potential reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles, a royal expert has stepped forward to defend Meghan Markle, dismissing claims that she is manipulating the situation for personal gain.
Amid reports that Prince Harry’s top aides recently met with representatives of King Charles in London for a potential “peace summit,” royal watchers began suggesting that Meghan was the driving force behind the renewed talks.
Some critics alleged the Duchess of Sussex wanted to reestablish royal ties to boost her personal brand and business ventures. However, renowned royal historian and commentator Dr. Tessa Dunlop has publicly rejected those assumptions.
Speaking to The Mirror, Dunlop said Meghan has “found her happy place” and is not seeking to benefit from renewed royal connections. “Love her or loathe her, Meghan has found her happy place and it has nothing to do with the Royal Family,” Dunlop stated.
“As Ever, raspberry jam, beige ensembles, and over-emotive podcasts might not be your thing, but they are working for California’s Princess.” The historian went on to say that Meghan’s independence is actually a positive development for Prince Harry and his strained relationship with King Charles.
“And before any bilious naysayers butt in, this is good news for a future rapprochement between Harry and the King,” Dunlop explained. “The two men have a chance to work things through. And surely everybody wants that?” She added, “That leaves only one option – reconciliation.
The big question is when? And courtesy of a meeting between the two royal camps on a prominent London balcony, it looks like that ‘when’ will be sooner rather than later.” Dunlop emphasized that Meghan has been busy crafting her own identity outside of the royal spotlight, emerging as a lifestyle and product influencer.
Crucially, she pointed out, this new public role “does not depend on attacking the House of Windsor for revenue.” This leaves Prince Harry, she noted, the space and opportunity to repair the fractured bond with his father—a goal he has expressed interest in pursuing in past interviews.
“It will not be easy, and nor should we expect immediate results,” Dunlop cautioned. “But that meeting of assistants in London last week is a harbinger of things to come.” While rumors continue to circulate, experts like Dunlop are encouraging a more balanced perspective, suggesting that Meghan’s intentions may be less strategic and more supportive of healing longstanding family wounds.
