Ellen DeGeneres Supports Rosie O’Donnell After Trump’s Controversial Citizenship Remark

Ellen DeGeneres has expressed her support for fellow comedian Rosie O’Donnell following a contentious statement made by U.S. President Donald Trump. The statement reignited a long-running feud between Trump and O’Donnell, leading to public solidarity from DeGeneres.

On Sunday, DeGeneres shared a post featuring a screenshot of Trump’s latest comment alongside O’Donnell’s bold response. “Good for you, @Rosie,” DeGeneres wrote, showing her support for O’Donnell amidst the controversy. The tension resurfaced when Trump made remarks about revoking O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship, labeling her as “a threat to humanity.”

Trump’s statement, made via social media, read: “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

While Trump’s comments generated widespread backlash, including from legal experts who noted the protections under the 14th Amendment would prevent such action, O’Donnell responded defiantly, daring Trump to follow through on his threat. “Hey Donald, you rattled again? 18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours,” O’Donnell posted on Instagram. “You call me a threat to humanity—but I’m everything you fear.”

The comedian continued with a sharp rebuke of the president: “You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey, with a tangerine spray tan. I’m not yours to silence. I never was.” In a follow-up post, O’Donnell delved deeper into her reasons for relocating to Ireland earlier this year with her 12-year-old child, Clay.

She explained that her move was a direct response to the policies of the current U.S. administration. “The president of the USA has always hated the fact that I see him for who he is—a criminal con man, sexual abuser, liar out to harm our nation to serve himself,” she wrote.

“This is why I moved to Ireland,” O’Donnell continued. “He is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy, compassion, and basic humanity— I stand in direct opposition [to] all he represents—so do millions of others. You’re gonna deport all who stand against ur evil tendencies—[you’re] a bad joke who can’t form a coherent sentence #nevertrump.”

O’Donnell, a long-time critic of Trump, has been outspoken about her opposition to his administration, particularly during the heightened scrutiny of the death of Jeffrey Epstein. Amid the investigation into the alleged sex trafficking of minors, many have criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the case, further fueling O’Donnell’s disdain.

The public exchange between the comedian and the president is the latest chapter in their ongoing feud, which has captured the attention of both Trump’s supporters and detractors.
