King Charles is still grappling with the emotional fallout from Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare, which has reportedly left the monarch deeply wounded. Despite the personal pain caused by Harry’s accusations, the King remains reluctant to take firm action regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles.
According to a report by Radar Online, Charles has chosen not to strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their titles—granted to them by the late Queen Elizabeth II—out of fear that doing so would trigger a public backlash and damage his image.
“The king was especially stung by Harry labeling him an emotionally cold father in his scathing memoir, Spare,” a royal insider told the outlet. “But the monarch is very concerned about his image and fears backlash from his subjects. That’s why he’d never dare take away Harry’s Sussex title – despite all the hurt he’s caused.”
The insider claims that while Charles is privately hurt and frustrated, he lacks the resolve to act decisively against his younger son. Behind palace doors, however, discussions are reportedly underway about potential future action if Harry and Meghan further challenge the monarchy.

“Behind the scenes, people are saying that the royals have quietly sanctioned the title removal – if Harry and Meghan step out of line again,” the source said. “The removal would require an Act of Parliament, but those in the know say the palace has already called several secret meetings to discuss the possibility and put an actionable plan in place.”
The source went on to describe the monarch as “cowardly,” claiming he has effectively delegated the decision to Prince William, the heir to the throne. William, who has remained largely silent in public regarding the Sussexes, is reportedly less forgiving and more willing to act if necessary.
Despite the ongoing tension, Charles has avoided open confrontation with Harry and Meghan, even after the couple’s high-profile media appearances and repeated criticism of the royal family’s internal dynamics. The King’s apparent desire to preserve the monarchy’s public image continues to outweigh the emotional toll and internal family discord.
As speculation builds around whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could lose their titles, insiders suggest that the royal family is prepared to act—but only if further provoked. For now, King Charles remains torn between loyalty to his “darling boy” and the preservation of his own legacy.
