Tech mogul Elon Musk has reignited his feud with President Donald Trump over the controversial “One Big Beautiful Bill,” issuing a fiery critique of what he calls “insane spending” and renewing his call for a new political party. Just weeks after apologizing to Trump for their earlier disagreement, Musk reversed course over the weekend, resuming his attacks on the bill, which he claims increases the debt ceiling by a record $5 trillion.
“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS, that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk posted on X, slamming what he views as a bipartisan failure of fiscal responsibility.
Doubling down, he urged political change: “Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people.” Musk also directly called out conservative lawmakers, tagging Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Andy Harris (R-MD): “How can you call yourself the Freedom Caucus if you vote for a DEBT SLAVERY bill with the biggest debt ceiling increase in history?”
In a follow-up post, Musk issued a harsh warning: “Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
Musk, the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump, has taken an uncompromising stance against the bill, which he claims will “destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” Calling it “utterly insane and destructive,” Musk argued that the legislation props up outdated industries while neglecting the clean-energy future.
Tensions between Musk and Trump began to boil over in early June, when provisions in the bill rolled back electric vehicle tax credits — a move directly affecting Tesla and other green ventures. According to Mediaite, this policy shift was a key trigger in Musk’s break with Trump.
The rift became more personal when Musk, in a now-deleted tweet, accused the Trump administration of concealing files related to Jeffrey Epstein — an unsubstantiated claim that briefly stoked conspiracy theories online. Musk later attempted to de-escalate, but the damage had been done.
In parallel, Musk began floating the idea of launching a third political party. “Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?” he asked in a widely shared X poll.
Reactions to Musk’s criticism flooded social media. One user remarked, “It’s gonna be hard to form a new party when people are calling general decency a ‘woke mind virus.’” Others questioned Congress’s approach to the debt ceiling, while some Trump loyalists defended the bill, insisting, “This bill literally balances the budget.”
As Musk’s feud with Trump escalates, his growing political ambitions are taking center stage in America’s fractured political landscape.
