Chrissy Teigen just surprised her fans with a very up-close look at her latest cosmetic procedure, and it’s definitely not your average trip to the salon. The 39-year-old model and TV personality hopped on Instagram Live this week with her face wrapped in bandages, leaving followers wondering what on earth had happened.
She cleared things up quickly on her Instagram Story with a post that included a close-up shot of her stitched-up forehead. “At [sic] lot of you are wondering about my hospital pic which is very understandable as I gave no explanation lol,” she wrote alongside the photo. “I had a hairline lowering procedure. lost a lot in the front from babies and it’s just very thin up there. When you see it on a carpet, it’s ALWAYS extensions.”
That’s right—Teigen underwent surgery to lower her hairline, saying she’s lost fullness in the front of her scalp, especially after having kids. And while fans were initially worried by her wrapped face and hospital bed selfie, Teigen made it clear she’s fine and plans to share more as she heals. “It really is a journey,” she added.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Chrissy has opened up about going under the knife. She’s been one of the most refreshingly candid celebs when it comes to talking about plastic surgery and body image. Back in March 2020, she revealed she got breast implants when she was just 20.
But by that summer, she was ready to move on from them. “I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort!” she explained to fans. “Don’t worry about me. All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat. Which is all a tit is in the first place. A dumb, miraculous bag of fat.”
Teigen hasn’t slowed down since. In 2021, she revealed she had buccal fat removal to slim down her cheeks, a procedure that’s become trendy among celebs. “I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing here,” she said in an Instagram video. “And since I quit drinking, I’m really seeing the results, and I like it.”
And let’s not forget one of her more unexpected admissions from 2017—she had liposuction in her armpits.
