Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Heartfelt Conversations with Her Teenage Daughters

Nicole Kidman has opened up about her role as a mother, offering a rare and heartfelt glimpse into her private life. In an exclusive interview with Allure, the 57-year-old actress shared how deeply she values her relationship with her children and reflected on the personal changes she has experienced following the death of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman.

Best known for her roles in films like The Hours and Moulin Rouge!, Kidman has largely kept her family life out of the public eye. However, during the conversation, she responded candidly when asked if she liked the kind of mother she is.

“I do, actually. Yeah. I’m very close to both my girls. I sit on their beds and discuss the most intimate things; I get to be their guide. If they want to tell me to be quiet, they can. I’m able to apologise to them. I’m able to stand up to them. I very much like the relationship we have. It’s nice to be able to say that,” Kidman said, speaking about her daughters Sunday and Faith, whom she shares with her husband, country music star Keith Urban.

Kidman also touched on the profound impact of her mother’s passing last year, revealing how the loss reshaped her daily life and emotional world. “Losing my mother changed every part of me. I spoke to her every second or third day. I’d get up, I’d walk around the block, and I’d talk to her for an hour before the girls got up, before Keith got up. That was the rhythm of my day,” she said.

The actress is a mother of four. She shares her two eldest children, Bella and Connor, with former husband Tom Cruise. Kidman and Cruise were married for 11 years before divorcing in 2001. Since then, she has built a family with Urban, welcoming daughters Sunday and Faith in the years that followed.

Though known for her poised and often reserved public persona, Kidman’s remarks in this interview reveal a deeply nurturing and reflective side, underscoring her commitment to motherhood and family life. As she continues to balance her acclaimed acting career with her personal life, Kidman’s openness offers a rare and touching insight into the emotional bonds that ground her most deeply.
