Donald Trump Jr is back in the spotlight, and once again, it’s for all the wrong reasons. This time, he’s taking aim at former First Lady Dr Jill Biden, and let’s just say, the internet isn’t letting him off lightly.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump Jr reignited a years-old moment with a dig that blended sarcasm, misinformation, and a not-so-subtle jab at Jill Biden’s academic title. “I sometimes forget that part of the mental disorder of leftism is an inability to understand sarcasm,” he wrote. “So for the confused libs out there, I’m well aware that Jill Biden is a fake doctor, not a real one…Unlike the Dems, who were calling for her to be Surgeon General in 2020.”

Naturally, the claim raised some eyebrows—but like many of Don Jr’s statements, it needs a bit of context. The whole idea of Jill Biden becoming Surgeon General wasn’t a serious political push from the Democrats—it came from Whoopi Goldberg during a 2020 episode of The View. While discussing potential roles in the Biden administration, Goldberg said, “I’m hoping Dr Jill becomes the Surgeon General… She’s a hell of a doctor. She’s an amazing doctor.”
Her co-host Sunny Hostin quickly corrected the slip: “She’s a teacher, but she might be good for Betsy DeVos’s post.” Goldberg later owned the mix-up, telling viewers, “I was wrong about his wife. I was wrong, before you start texting and emailing.”
Despite what Trump Jr implied, there were no real calls for Jill Biden to take on a public health role. The job of Surgeon General went to Dr Vivek Murthy—a fully qualified medical professional with the experience to match.
Jill Biden, for the record, earned her doctorate in education from the University of Delaware in 2007 and has taught for over 25 years. Even while serving as Second Lady, she continued teaching English at Northern Virginia Community College.

The whole debacle follows hot on the heels of another controversial post from Trump Jr, in which he asked how Jill Biden “missed stage five metastatic cancer” in her husband, prompting a wave of criticism for misrepresenting medical terminology and the nature of prostate cancer diagnosis.
Meanwhile, the Biden family is facing far more serious concerns. The former president, 82, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has already spread to his bones. His Gleason score of 9 places it at the severe end of the scale, indicating fast-growing cancer cells with a high risk of spreading. With so much at stake, critics say Trump Jr’s comments are not only misleading but deeply insensitive.
