2-Year-Old Aquira Beloch Nearly Killed by Babysitter, Claims Mother

A Memphis mom is living every parent’s worst nightmare after a trusted babysitter left her 2-year-old daughter hospitalized and fighting for her life. Tamaurria Beloch says she had no reason to worry when she left her daughter, Aquira Beloch, with someone she considered reliable. But just days later, everything changed.

Between May 13 and May 16, Beloch left Aquira in the babysitter’s care. Then, out of nowhere, she received a chilling phone call that turned her world upside down. Speaking to WREG, Beloch recalled the moment. “Friday, I get a call from her, and it was like, ‘I’m fixin’ to rush your baby to the hospital,’ and I’m like, ‘For what? Why are you taking her to the hospital? What is going on?’” The sitter claimed that her boyfriend had found burn marks on the toddler during a bath and noticed she was shaking and not acting like herself.

Aquira was initially taken to Methodist University Hospital before being transferred to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. But by the time Beloch got to the hospital, the sitter was gone.

Now, all the desperate mother wants is answers. “Just tell me what really happened,” Beloch told WREG. “Stop running from me, cause what happens in the dark comes to light always and karma is real.” WREG tried contacting the babysitter, but got no response. When they visited the address associated with her, it looked abandoned.

Aquira’s condition is heartbreaking. Her family says the toddler has severe injuries, including third-degree burns and trauma all over her body. Christine Jordan, who identified herself as Aquira’s aunt on Facebook, wrote, “She beat my niece, burned her with hot water. Knocked her tooth out, cut her hair, and ain’t no telling what else. My niece is in the hospital fighting for her life. With bruises all over her body.”

Jordan added that Aquira wasn’t even breathing on her own when she arrived at the hospital and was having seizures. “Her 3rd degree burns were 12 hours old when they decided to take her to the hospital where they dropped her off and left her for dead,” she wrote. “She’s on the run, please if you see her contact the police. My niece is only 2 years old.”

Aquira’s aunt, Whitley Pigram, also started a GoFundMe to help cover medical costs. She shared more of the horrifying details. “She has 3rd degree burns to her back, chest, stomach, arm and face. She is also on a breathing tube. Her teeth were also missing and she has trauma to her head,” Pigram wrote. She explained that her sister, Aquira’s mom, had just started getting back on her feet and trusted the babysitter while she went to a few job interviews.

So far, the family has raised over $1,600 of their $2,400 goal. Aquira is still in the hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.
