A 31-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly killing his mother, hiding her body under McDonald’s wrappers and trash, and then driving it to his sister’s home in what authorities are calling a deeply disturbing case.
Kevin Hyun Ahn was arrested in Pennsylvania following a 911 call made by his sister on March 24. According to the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department, officers responded to a residence in Penn Township around 3 p.m. after receiving a report about “a suspicious incident.”

The woman who called 911 told authorities her brother, described as “estranged and transient,” had shown up at her home unannounced and was “acting weird.” She noted that he arrived in their mother’s car, something she found suspicious, as Ahn was typically not welcome at the property.
After being confronted, Ahn reportedly left but returned about 30 minutes later. That’s when the caller noticed what appeared to be a body in the backseat of the car. The figure was described as an “unresponsive person positioned across the rear seat and floor of the vehicle, partially covered in household goods,” trash, and McDonald’s wrappers.
When the woman and her partner confronted Ahn about the apparent body, he fled the scene on foot. Police later confirmed the remains in the vehicle were those of Ahn’s mother. An autopsy revealed she had died from strangulation and traumatic brain injury, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to local news outlet WGAL.
Ahn was arrested shortly after and initially charged with abuse of a corpse. Those charges were later upgraded to include first-degree murder and assault.

During a preliminary hearing, Ahn’s defense attorney presented a bizarre argument in an attempt to explain his actions. According to the Daily Voice, the lawyer claimed Ahn had not committed murder, but had instead been “dressing up a skeleton” as a way to mourn his mother.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about Ahn’s mental state or potential motive. He remains in custody as he awaits trial.
