Donald Trump Orders Alcatraz Reopened to Cage ‘America’s Most Ruthless Criminals’ in Explosive Move

In a dramatic and controversial declaration, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to reopen and rebuild the infamous Alcatraz prison, calling it a necessary step to combat “America’s most ruthless and violent offenders.”

Posting Sunday night on his Truth Social platform, the 78-year-old president stated:

“REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ. For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering.” The post outlined a sweeping initiative to restore the long-abandoned facility as a high-security fortress for what Trump described as the nation’s most dangerous individuals, reported Reuters.

“When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm,” he continued. “That’s the way it’s supposed to be. No longer will we tolerate these Serial Offenders who spread filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets.”

He further declared: “That is why, today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

The post also tied the initiative to broader immigration concerns and the judiciary, saying, “We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally.”

Trump concluded with a familiar rallying cry: “The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.” The announcement sparked immediate debate online. Critics highlighted the immense cost and impracticality of reviving the dilapidated prison.

“Alcatraz is a broken-down tourist attraction. It’s not worth rebuilding,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “It would cost more than $100 million dollars to fix the infrastructure there.” A third chimed in: “Alcatraz is so run down, it’d be cheaper and faster to just build a new supermax.”

Still, some supporters rallied behind the proposal. “Never expected this but YEAH LET’S GO,” one user exclaimed. “100% in favor of reopening ALCATRAZ and locking up criminals!”

Alcatraz, located 1.25 miles off San Francisco’s coast, operated as a federal prison from 1934 until 1963. It once held notorious criminals like Al Capone and Whitey Bulger but was shut down due to maintenance costs. Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1986, it now draws millions as a tourist destination.
