“They Think He Has No Integrity” Tom Selleck Slammed for Promoting Controversial Reverse Mortgage Ads

Tom Selleck, beloved for his iconic roles in Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods, is now facing serious backlash, not for anything he did on-screen, but for his role in promoting a controversial financial product aimed at seniors. According to RadarOnline, fans of the 79-year-old actor are voicing their disappointment over his television ads for reverse mortgages, calling them misleading and exploitative.

“A lot of people who used to look up to Tom think it’s despicable he’s the spokesperson for a reverse mortgage lender that is seen as preying on the elderly,” one insider shared. The criticism stems from concerns that these financial products, which allow older homeowners to borrow against the equity in their homes, can lead to devastating financial outcomes.

“The feeling is that the financial products he’s pushing are a good way to lose your home,” the source added. While the ads show Selleck as a trustworthy, grandfatherly figure explaining how reverse mortgages can help retirees live more comfortably, critics argue that he’s out of touch with the people these products affect. “It’s all well and good for him to preach – but he still makes huge paychecks and lives on a 63-acre ranch in California, so what would he know about hardship?” said the source.

In one of the widely viewed commercials, Selleck says, “In my mind, retirement is all about spending more time with the ones you love and more time to enjoy what you’ve earned.” He adds that “many older Americans just don’t have the money to do all that.”

He continues by suggesting a reverse mortgage from AAG could help solve that problem. “What people don’t realise is your biggest asset might very well be your home, and using your home’s equity with a reverse mortgage loan from AAG could play a vital part in funding your retirement, not to mention give you the cash to cover all those bills that seem to come out of nowhere,” he tells viewers.

Still, not everyone is buying the pitch. “Clearly, Tom doesn’t see what the fuss is about,” said one insider. “But it hasn’t gone down well with the people who watched his shows. They think he has no integrity.” For fans who once admired him as a symbol of strength and honor, this latest chapter is casting a long shadow over his legacy.
