Jim Jordan Praises Vivek Ramaswamy but Dodges Endorsement Question

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) expressed his support for Vivek Ramaswamy but stopped short of endorsing the tech billionaire and former Department of Government Efficiency co-head for Ohio governor.

Ramaswamy, a Cincinnati native, announced last month his candidacy for Ohio governor in the 2026 election. The 39-year-old biotech entrepreneur is entering the Republican primary to replace Gov. Mike DeWine, who is term-limited.

His gubernatorial campaign follows his brief tenure as co-chair of President Donald Trump’s DOGE initiative, a role he exited on Trump’s first day in office. It also comes after his unsuccessful bid for the Republican presidential nomination last year.

Ramaswamy is expected to face stiff competition in the GOP primary, with candidates such as Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and entrepreneur Heather Hill also in the race. Additionally, former state health director Dr. Amy Acton has announced her candidacy.

While Trump has enthusiastically endorsed Ramaswamy, Jordan was more reserved when pressed about his stance. “Do you support Vivek Ramaswamy for this post?” CNN anchor Kasie Hunt asked Jordan on Wednesday during an appearance on her show, The Arena.

“Yeah, I like Vivek. I think he’ll be a great governor of our state,” Jordan responded. “There are some other good guys that are talking about running. But Vivek’s the guy I think is going to win this thing. And I really like his energy. I really like his conservative, uh, conservative philosophy. I like the fact he’s talking about getting rid of the income tax in our state.”

However, Hunt pressed further. “So would you consider that a formal endorsement?” she asked with a smile. Jordan avoided a direct response, keeping his lips tightly shut and laughing silently, leaving his level of support open to interpretation.
