A young girl in Bellevue, Washington, was just inches from her family’s front door when a coyote bit her and attempted to drag her away on March 11. The incident is one of several recent coyote attacks reported in the same neighborhood, prompting concerns about public safety.
According to Fox News, the girl’s father, Chang Tong, told KIRO that the coyote was “just walking on the mat” outside their home when his daughter opened the door, mistaking the animal for a dog. The coyote bit her hand and dragged her to the ground before she was able to escape. The child was taken to the emergency room, where she received treatment for minor injuries and a rabies shot.

The attack is part of a troubling pattern in the area. Earlier that same day, a coyote reportedly approached children at a bus stop and attempted to bite them. The day before, a student’s backpack was stolen by a coyote after it was left on a sidewalk near the school.
Additional incidents earlier in the week included a woman bitten by a coyote while sitting on her back patio on March 6 and a man bitten in his open garage on March 7. Both victims were treated for minor injuries. In response to the escalating situation, officers from Washington’s Department of Fish and Wildlife have killed two coyotes believed to be responsible for the attacks.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid approaching or feeding wild animals. The series of incidents has left the community on edge, with many calling for increased measures to address the coyote problem.
