Alexia Umansky is reflecting on how her relationship with her father, Mauricio Umansky, has evolved in the wake of his divorce from her mother, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards. In an exclusive conversation with Us Weekly, the 28-year-old reality star shared that she and her sisters are still adjusting to their parents’ split and the changes it has brought to their family dynamic.
Kyle and Mauricio share four daughters—Alexia, Sophia, and Portia Umansky, as well as Farrah Brittany, whom Kyle welcomed with her first husband, Guraish Aldjufrie. Despite the challenges, Alexia revealed that her bond with her father has actually strengthened as they navigate this new chapter. “He’s so honest, and our communication has just completely excelled since this experience,” she explained.
She emphasized that while their family has always been close, the separation has forced them to become better at addressing difficult topics. “We’ve always all been so close. But we’re finally good at confrontation and hard conversations, which is not something we did before,” she continued.
“We were always positive. It was a learning curve for us: It’s OK to talk about the hard things—it leads to more positivity.” Alexia also revealed that she had emotionally prepared herself for her parents’ separation before it happened, making the transition somewhat easier for her.
“It happened sooner because I was ready for it,” she admitted. Kyle and Mauricio’s split shocked fans of RHOBH, as they had been one of the franchise’s longest-standing couples. The pair, who married in 1996, had often been seen as an unshakable duo, with Mauricio building a successful real estate empire and Kyle maintaining her reality TV career.
However, after months of speculation, the couple confirmed their separation, marking the end of their nearly three-decade-long marriage. While the divorce has undoubtedly brought challenges, Alexia’s reflections suggest that the Umansky-Richards family is embracing open communication and personal growth in its aftermath. With time, the family continues to adjust, proving that even amid change, their deep-rooted bond remains intact.
