Deborra-Lee Furness Eyes Permanent Move to Australia After Split from Hugh Jackman

Deborra-Lee Furness has revealed plans for a major career and lifestyle shift following her high-profile separation from former husband Hugh Jackman. Speaking to the Herald Sun at the Australian Open in Melbourne on January 25, the Beautiful actress shared her intention to make a permanent move back to Australia, a place she still calls home.

“Melbourne will always feel like home,” Furness said. After announcing her unexpected separation from Jackman in 2023, Furness hinted at her next steps, including potential film projects in her home country. “I’ve had a few offers for movies back here, so I’m still reading some scripts to see if there’s something great,” she shared.

While considering opportunities in Australia, Furness also mentioned ongoing projects in New York. “I’m in my chapter three,” the 69-year-old actress and producer reflected. “I’m a creative. I love being creative in a variety of areas, and I think I’ll be doing more traveling.” Furness also spoke fondly about her children’s connection to Australia.

“They adore it here,” she said. “We do one Christmas in New York and one Christmas here.” Returning to Melbourne holds a special significance for Furness, who explained her deep ties to the city. “I grew up here,” she said. “Every time I go out, Ava says, ‘Is there anyone you don’t know in Melbourne?’” She added, “They love the simplicity, the food, the culture, and they have family and friends here.”

Furness’ candid remarks come as her personal life remains in the spotlight. Her outing at the Australian Open followed reports that Hugh Jackman was seen kissing his current girlfriend, Sutton Foster, marking a new chapter in his life post-split.

Despite the challenges of her separation, Furness appears focused on embracing her next phase, balancing her love for Australia with her creative pursuits abroad. Whether through film projects or personal connections, she is set to carve out her own path in the years ahead.

For Furness, returning to Melbourne not only offers professional opportunities but also a chance to reconnect with the place that has always felt like home. “Melbourne will always hold a special place in my heart,” she said, hinting at a promising future filled with creativity and new beginnings.
