Biden Condemns Russia’s ‘Outrageous’ Attack on Ukraine, Pledges Continued U.S. Support

U.S. President Joe Biden strongly criticized Russia’s recent missile and drone attack on Ukraine, calling it “outrageous” and underscoring the urgent need to continue supporting Ukraine, the White House announced on Thursday.

“Overnight, Russia carried out a horrific aerial attack against Ukraine,” the White House said in a statement, detailing the assault. “Ukrainian authorities report that Russia launched nearly 200 missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure, depriving Ukrainian civilians of access to electricity.”

Biden condemned the attack, stating it serves as “yet another reminder of the urgency and importance of supporting the Ukrainian people in their defense against Russian aggression.” With the war in Ukraine surpassing 1,000 days since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, Biden assured the Ukrainian people of unwavering U.S. support.

“Earlier this year, and at my direction, the United States began prioritizing air defense exports so they go to Ukraine first,” Biden recalled. The president noted that the Department of Defense has delivered hundreds of additional air defense missiles to Ukraine as part of these efforts, with more shipments underway.

In preparation for winter, the Biden administration has also been assisting Kyiv in bolstering its energy grid’s resilience. Alongside this, the Department of Defense continues to supply Ukraine with critical military capabilities, including artillery, rockets, and armored vehicles, the statement highlighted.

“Russia continues to underestimate the bravery, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian people,” Biden said, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to Ukraine’s fight for freedom. He also emphasized the collective support of over 50 countries backing Ukraine in its defense.

As Ukraine faces intensified assaults on its cities and infrastructure, Biden’s statement reinforces the U.S. dedication to standing with Ukraine in its resistance against Russian aggression.
