Tom Brady Reflects on Broadcasting Career, Says Football Will Always Be “More Fun”

NFL legend Tom Brady, now stepping into a broadcasting role, admits that despite enjoying his new career, nothing can quite replace the thrill of playing football. In September, the 47-year-old former quarterback made his sports broadcasting debut with Fox, and while he’s embraced this new chapter, Brady candidly shared on the Let’s Go! podcast that watching from the sidelines isn’t quite the same.

“It’s been really fun to sit and watch these games from the 50-yard line,” Brady said, reflecting on his new perspective as a broadcaster. Yet he couldn’t help but add, “Although I’d much prefer to be on the field playing, because it’s a lot more fun down there, but I’m not doing that anymore.” He acknowledged the unique excitement of watching the action from above, saying, “Just watching from above and seeing how these guys are performing is pretty cool.”

Back in September, Brady had also opened up to People magazine about this new phase in his life, revealing that he’s “very happy” with the transition. “For me, it was good to take some time off,” he shared, explaining that after years of a fast-paced, intense career, a break felt refreshing. “I had been on this treadmill going at a fast speed for a long time, and I loved it. I loved every minute of playing, and at the same time, when I retired, I really enjoyed that too.”

Now that he’s back to work in a different capacity, Brady expressed gratitude and excitement for the opportunity. “I’m back to work, and I’m enjoying that, so I have no complaints,” he remarked. While Brady may miss the adrenaline of playing, he’s embracing this new perspective on the game, balancing his passion for football with a fresh challenge in sports broadcasting.
