Former Royal Aide Reveals Harry’s Touching Wish to Gift His Boys a Pink Granny or a Blue Granny

Prince Harry’s early years as a royal have been unveiled by former royal aide Paul Burrell, who describes the Duke of Sussex as a “generous and sensitive boy.” The candid revelations offer insight into Harry’s personality before he left the UK in 2020 to start a new life with his wife, Meghan Markle, in the US.

Speaking on behalf of Casino.org, Burrell, who worked closely with the royal family, reflected on Harry’s kind nature and the warm gestures he made toward others, especially children. “Harry was always a generous and sensitive boy,” Burrell shared. “He would like nothing better than to give my boys a ‘Pink Granny’ or a ‘Blue Granny’.”

For those unfamiliar with the term, Burrell explained the “Pink Granny” as a £50 note featuring the Queen’s face. “Now you’d prefer a pink granny, because that was a £50 note and that’s what he called it – it had his Granny’s face on it!” Burrell added, laughing. “So now if anyone ever offers you a pink or a blue granny, definitely take the pink granny!”

Harry’s kindness extended beyond simple gestures, as Burrell recalled. “He used to give out notes to my boys so they could save for a PlayStation or something. He was very kind,” he said.

These personal stories offer a glimpse into Harry’s character long before his departure from the British royal family in 2020. Since stepping away from royal duties, Harry and Meghan have faced intense media scrutiny, especially following their accusations of racism within the royal family and their public television interview sharing grievances about their treatment.

Now based in California, Harry and Meghan continue to build their new life outside the UK, with their two children—son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet. Despite the controversies and challenges that have marked their time in the US, Burrell’s comments highlight a different side of Harry, one defined by generosity and warmth.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to carve out their future in America, these personal anecdotes from Harry’s earlier years serve as a reminder of the man he once was, and perhaps still is—benevolent, caring, and deeply sensitive to those around him.
