Prince Harry has once again sparked disappointment within the Royal Family following his recent public remarks, further closing the door on any possible reconciliation, according to royal insiders and commentators. Royal author Robert Jobson, speaking to The Sun, said the Duke of Sussex has crossed too many lines for forgiveness, having publicly criticized senior members of the monarchy in recent years.
“He’s done so much damage,” Jobson said. “He’s criticised the Queen, the King’s wife. He’s attacked his brother, called his brother a bully, and attacked his brother’s wife. And then what does he expect?” Harry, who stepped down from royal duties alongside his wife Meghan Markle in 2020, has since participated in several high-profile interviews and released his memoir Spare, in which he made a number of personal and controversial claims about his family.

These included characterizations of Prince William as confrontational and an accusation that the palace failed to support him and Meghan through difficult times. While some had hoped that Harry might eventually extend an olive branch to heal the rift, royal commentators now suggest that the opportunity has likely passed.
Veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards echoed Jobson’s sentiments, criticizing Harry for not using his platform to make amends. “And when he had the chance to correct a lot of it, he didn’t do that,” Edwards said. “He didn’t say, ‘Look, I probably got that wrong, Dad, and I’m sorry, William.'”

Edwards, who has covered the Royal Family for decades, didn’t hold back in his assessment of Harry’s actions. “I mean, what he did was pretty treacherous,” he remarked.

The Royal Family has remained largely silent in response to Harry’s criticisms, adhering to the long-standing motto of “never complain, never explain.” However, sources close to the palace have reportedly said there is growing frustration behind the scenes, particularly as Harry continues to publicly comment on private family matters.
With King Charles focusing on his reign and Prince William stepping more prominently into royal leadership, the family appears increasingly uninterested in revisiting old wounds. Meanwhile, Harry remains based in California with Meghan and their two children, far from royal life and even further, it seems, from reconciliation.
As the divide deepens, many royal observers now believe that any hopes of a return to the fold for Prince Harry may be permanently off the table.
