Prince Harry is back in the spotlight but not for royal drama or legal news this time. Instead, he is getting attention for a personal and lighthearted thank you letter that gives a rare glimpse into how he feels about the media.
The Duke of Sussex recently sent a handwritten note to Josh Lord, the owner of East Side Ink, a tattoo shop in New York. Harry and his team from the Invictus Games had filmed a promotional video at the shop for the upcoming event in Vancouver. What stood out to Harry was how smoothly Lord helped handle press interest around the visit.

Josh later shared some behind the scenes photos of Harry on Instagram along with the letter itself. In the message, Harry was genuinely thankful for both the filming space and Lord’s calm response to media questions.
“Dear Josh, Thank you so much for your generosity in offering us your space at East Side Ink for filming. It was incredibly kind, and I really enjoyed meeting you and learning more about the history of your shop,” Harry wrote.
He added with a touch of humor, “I also appreciated your artful handling of press questions regarding my visit. It means a lot, and I was rather impressed by your skilful dodging. Well done. They’ll be in for a shock when they see the final cut.”
Fans appreciated how casual and sincere the letter felt. It sounded more like something a friend would write than a note from a royal. That informal tone has become more familiar since Harry stepped away from official royal duties in 2020 and began building his own public identity.

What adds even more interest to the note is the timing. Just as the letter surfaced online, Prince Harry’s aides were reportedly meeting with representatives of King Charles in London. The talks were described as a quiet peace summit aimed at improving relations between Harry and the rest of the royal family.
Harry’s comments about dodging the press come as no surprise to those who have followed his ongoing struggle with media attention. He has long criticized the press for its role in shaping public perception and invading personal space. His remarks here, though playful, hint at a continued wariness.
The Invictus Games remain one of Harry’s top priorities. He launched the international sporting event in 2014 to support wounded and recovering service members. The upcoming edition in Vancouver is expected to draw global attention, and the video filmed at East Side Ink is part of the buildup.
There is no official release date yet for the video, but Harry’s comment about the press being surprised suggests it will include something unexpected.
Between the friendly letter, the behind closed doors family talks, and preparations for Invictus, Harry continues to carve out his own path. And clearly, he has not lost his ability to laugh about the challenges that come with being who he is.
