Harry Quietly Lands in China as King Charles Makes Headlines in Canada

Prince Harry is back in the spotlight, this time in Shanghai, China, after making a surprise visit that caught just about everyone off guard. While his trip wasn’t announced in advance, the Duke of Sussex showed up on May 26 to speak at the Trip.com Group’s Envision 2025 Summit and to host his own Travalyst Executive Summit.

Harry, who founded Travalyst back in 2019 to push for more sustainable travel practices, used the event to encourage the Asia-Pacific travel industry to step up its climate efforts. His appearance came right on the heels of the release of Travalyst’s Five-Year Milestone Report, which emphasizes the impact everyday travelers can have on creating positive environmental change.

In his speech, Harry urged industry leaders not to wait. “Climate change isn’t just an environmental challenge – it’s a critical business emergency, costing the global economy $143 billion dollars annually,” he said.

He wasn’t sugarcoating the urgency either. Speaking directly to the travel sector, Harry added, “Now is the moment for the industry to reaffirm its commitment to being a force for good. Challenges will undoubtedly rise, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s that meaningful change never comes easily. The true measure of our commitment is how we respond when the path becomes difficult. We must never give up.”

Harry also pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region is “strongly positioned to do this,” stressing how vital the region’s role will be in hitting climate targets by the 2030 deadline.

His low-key visit to China came at an interesting moment. While Harry was speaking to travel executives about climate action, his father, King Charles, was across the globe in Canada on an official royal visit. The King’s trip has been viewed as a show of strength and unity for the Commonwealth, especially after recent political friction between the UK and Donald Trump.

Back to Harry—his appearance in Shanghai is just one part of what looks like a busy period ahead. According to multiple reports, Harry is preparing to launch a new commercial venture shortly.

Meanwhile, his wife, Meghan Markle, is already diving into her projects. She recently debuted her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and launched her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The couple appears to be focusing on different professional paths that reflect their passions and interests.

So while the royal family may not be physically together right now, both Harry and Charles are keeping busy—and making very public moves in very different parts of the world.

As for what’s next, all eyes are now on Harry’s upcoming venture. But if there’s one thing that’s clear from his Shanghai speech, he’s not backing away from the issues he cares most about—especially when it comes to climate change and global responsibility.
