Meghan Markle’s foray into the wine industry is drawing mixed reviews, with critics calling her limited-edition rosé “nothing revolutionary” despite its rapid sell-out. The Duchess of Sussex recently launched a Napa Valley-produced rosé under her new brand, and the small batch reportedly sold out within an hour of release.
However, some public relations experts argue that the product’s popularity is more a result of Markle’s celebrity than its quality or innovation. PR specialist Edward Coram James told Express, “Meghan has very limited amounts of her products. She sold out her rosé in just an hour, and let’s be honest, this isn’t Glastonbury or some once-in-a-lifetime event.”
He continued, “It’s just another nice rosé, not exactly groundbreaking or revolutionary, no offence to her!” Coram James also questioned the marketing strategy behind the wine’s exclusivity. “Yes, she has loyal fans and plenty of people who follow her every move, but you can’t even buy just one bottle; it’s a minimum of three,” he noted.
“That tells me the buyers are a pretty specific demographic, making it unlikely that she released huge quantities in the first place.” While some supporters see the venture as a clever extension of Markle’s lifestyle brand and California roots, others view it as another celebrity-backed product riding a wave of media buzz rather than genuine industry disruption.

Markle, along with husband Prince Harry, left the Royal Family in 2020, citing a lack of support and racial undertones directed at their son, Prince Archie. In a high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple accused unnamed royals of raising concerns about their child’s skin tone. The bombshell revelations strained relations between the Sussexes and the monarchy.
Since relocating to California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shifted their focus to business and philanthropy. The couple has launched media deals, charitable foundations, and now, consumer products—including the newly released wine.
They currently reside in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, pursuing a lifestyle far removed from traditional royal duties.
As for the wine, while it may have sold out quickly, critics suggest the hype may not translate into long-term credibility within the competitive wine industry. Whether Meghan’s rosé becomes a staple or fades like many celebrity-branded beverages remains to be seen, but fo
