Meghan Markle Responds to Critics and Defends Her Core Identity in New Interview

In a recent interview with The Circuit’s Emily Chang, Meghan Markle made a bold statement that appears to take aim at those who have criticized her, particularly those who labeled her “the worst.”

The topic emerged during a discussion on Bloomberg Originals’ YouTube channel, where Markle reflected on her first-ever social justice letter, written during the Los Angeles riots.

Markle recalled a memory from her school days, explaining, “I remember the boys in the classroom saying, ‘yeah, that’s where women belong in the kitchen.’ And that’s really what upset me. It was a very turbulent time in our city and a lot of uncertainty.”

She continued, “But the one thing I was certain of in all of this was that it’s wrong. Let’s do something about it. And it was just so empowering to know that at a really young age, your voice could be heard.”

It was after this reflection that Markle made a statement about her personal identity, explaining how her “core” character has remained constant despite external criticism.

“I think our character, who we are at your core, I don’t think that shifts,” she said. Markle further elaborated, “I think a lot of behaviors and habits and roles that you end up playing in your life can bring out the best or worst in a lot of people, but you’re still who you are.”

This comment comes after years of public scrutiny, with Markle frequently the subject of harsh criticism from both the media and the public. In this interview, she made it clear that, despite the controversies that have surrounded her, her sense of self has remained unchanged.

Markle’s remarks about character and identity may be seen as a response to those who have tried to define her based on her public image rather than her personal values. The interview highlights her belief in the importance of staying true to one’s core, even in the face of adversity and judgment.
