Meghan Markle’s Podcast comeback gets overshadowed by ‘Total Disaster’ claims

Meghan Markle is facing backlash over her recent remarks suggesting that her podcast series, Confessions of a Female Founder, ended by her own decision. The Duchess of Sussex claimed she ended the project to focus more fully on her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, now branded as As Ever.

In an interview with Entrepreneur magazine, Meghan explained the decision behind the conclusion of the series, offering a lighthearted take: “At a certain point, the only thing I want spread thin is my jam.”

However, broadcaster and commentator Dan Wootton has challenged Meghan’s narrative, calling the project a failure and suggesting that the podcast lacked both public demand and long-term vision. Speaking to the Express, Wootton said, “No one is demanding this series… It’s been a total disaster.”

He continued: “Just like Archetypes, this goes down as another one-series flop because Meghan can’t commit to a single thing.”

Archetypes, the Duchess’s previous podcast under her deal with Spotify, also ended after one season. Despite strong initial interest, the show received mixed reviews and did not return for a second season. Spotify later confirmed the end of its deal with Meghan and Prince Harry’s Archewell Audio production company, further fueling speculation about the couple’s ability to deliver consistent content.

Meghan’s latest project, As Ever, includes a lifestyle brand that has launched with a curated aesthetic featuring home goods, jams, and a focus on high-end domestic living. While details about product offerings remain limited, the brand has been widely promoted on social media.

Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have been based in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple’s dramatic departure from the Royal Family was followed by explosive interviews in which they accused members of the monarchy of racism and emotional neglect.

While Meghan continues to pursue independent creative and business ventures, critics remain skeptical about the sustainability of her projects. Her decision to exit yet another podcast series has reignited discussions about her long-term professional strategy and whether she can build lasting success outside of the royal spotlight.

Supporters argue that the Duchess is simply exploring new directions while prioritizing family and personal passions. Detractors, however, see a pattern of unfinished ventures and question whether her public commitments are truly driven by creative vision or calculated image management.
