Meghan Markle Never Intended to Stay in Royal Family, Claims Royal Commentator

Amid fresh allegations that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry upset Queen Elizabeth II in the final days of her life, a royal expert has stepped forward to weigh in on the claims and their potentially explosive impact. Royal commentator Phil Dampier addressed the controversy during an appearance on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, where he responded to revelations made by journalist Sally Bedell Smith.

Smith had quoted a close friend of the late monarch, shedding light on what was reportedly a strained relationship between the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The claims suggested a string of slights, including disrespectful behavior toward the Queen and Meghan allegedly rejecting help from the monarch’s trusted aide on her wedding day, added to growing tensions behind palace doors. Responding to the report, Dampier offered his candid view on the situation.

“I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I’ve been saying or thought for the last few years — that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family,” he stated. “She saw as a stepping stone getting married to Harry to new fame and fortune.”

Dampier emphasized that the consequences of Meghan’s intentions may have extended beyond her own relationship with the Queen, saying it likely triggered early concerns from Prince William. “That’s what initially Prince William was concerned about. And that’s why they fell out.

And now we are where we are,” Dampier added, referring to the long-standing rift between the brothers. The royal expert warned that having these claims “confirmed” by someone reportedly close to the Queen could be devastating for the Sussexes’ reputation. “To have this confirmed by somebody so close to the Queen is really dynamite,” he concluded.

These latest developments come as Harry and Meghan continue to redefine their public roles after stepping back from royal duties in 2020. The couple now resides in California, where they have built a media brand and charitable foundation while maintaining a complex and often controversial relationship with the royal institution.

While supporters argue the Sussexes were forced to seek independence due to mistreatment within the monarchy and relentless media scrutiny, critics remain skeptical of their motivations. This latest commentary only adds fuel to an already polarizing debate surrounding the couple’s legacy, both inside and outside the palace walls.
