Meghan Markle Holds the Final Say on Boarding Schools, and Harry Will Likely Follow

A royal expert has warned that the question of where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children will be educated could spark a major disagreement between the couple in the years ahead.

The issue surfaced after speculation earlier this month that Prince Harry hoped to send his children, Archie and Lilibet, to school in Britain. A source told the Daily Mail: “I can tell you that Harry wants to educate the children here in the UK.”

Adding fuel to the rumours, some reports even suggested the Duke of Sussex had already “registered Prince Archie at Eton” in what was described as a surprising move. However, the Sussexes’ spokesperson quickly pushed back on those claims, clarifying: “Prince Harry has not put his son’s name down for Eton, nor does he have any plans to do so.”

Even so, the subject of education has become a focal point for royal commentators. Speaking to OK!, royal expert Lydia Alto argued that schooling could easily become a flashpoint between Harry and Meghan, as well as a dividing line in how the public views them.

She explained, “It could very possibly become a major source of tension in the future.” Alto also pointed to Meghan’s strong influence within the family unit. “Meghan has consistently presented herself as the decision-maker in their family, and if she labels boarding schools unacceptable, Harry will almost certainly back down,” she said.

The expert suggested that such a decision would not just be a matter of family preference but could also have long-term consequences for the children’s relationship with the wider royal family. “If Meghan were to block an attempt to educate Archie and Lilibet in the UK, it would be another ‘bridge quietly burned’, and another factor contributing to them growing up more isolated from their British family,” she noted.

The debate underscores the unique position Harry and Meghan face as parents navigating two worlds. While Harry remains tied to British traditions, Meghan is believed to favor a different approach, one that prioritizes a more independent upbringing for their children away from the royal spotlight.

As speculation grows, many observers believe the schooling question is not just about education but about identity, belonging, and how Harry and Meghan see their family’s future on either side of the Atlantic.
