Prince Harry and Kate Middleton’s once-close relationship has reportedly taken a significant turn for the worse, according to a royal expert. Hilary Fordwich, speaking to Fox News Digital, shared insights into the growing rift between the Duke of Sussex and the Princess of Wales.
“Princess Catherine and Prince Harry’s relationship has dramatically deteriorated over recent years,” Fordwich stated, emphasizing the stark changes in their dynamic. The decline comes amid Prince Harry’s public comments about the royal family, most notably in his memoir Spare and various high-profile interviews.
These disclosures have not sat well with senior royals, particularly Prince William and Kate, who are said to be prioritizing tradition and discretion. Fordwich noted that “there is a huge sense of betrayal and broader frustration, as well as a massive cultural clash,” suggesting that Harry’s transformation under the influence of Meghan Markle has confused not only the royal household but also the public.
She explained, “How Harry has changed under the influence of Meghan Markle has been baffling both to the royal family and beyond.” While Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation, Fordwich claimed in a BBC interview that Prince William and Princess Catherine remain united and are instead focused on their responsibilities.
“Prince William and Princess Catherine are upholding traditional royal discretion and dedicating themselves to duty,” she said, contrasting their approach with Harry’s. “Harry’s public disclosures, especially in his whingefest ‘Spare,’ and numerous interviews have been deeply damaging, as well as totally unnecessary.”
The impact has been particularly personal for the Princess of Wales. “Catherine, in particular, is deeply wounded by Harry’s media disclosures airing family grievances and betraying any family loyalty while dismissing royal values,” Fordwich revealed. She added that Kate, once seen as a key figure encouraging reconciliation between the brothers, has stepped back from that role.
Now, according to the expert, Kate and William are “totally at one regarding hypocritical Harry.” Fordwich concluded, “She’s far more focused on her health and family. She’s rather hurt.” The growing emotional distance underscores how far the once-close relationship between Harry and Catherine has drifted—and how difficult any path to reconciliation may be.
