Prince Harry Reportedly Pressured Meghan Not to Launch Wine on His Mom’s Birthday

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is preparing to unveil a new rosé wine under her lifestyle brand As Ever on July 1—a date that also marks what would have been the 64th birthday of the late Princess Diana. However, the decision to proceed with the product launch on such a significant day has reportedly sparked internal tension with her husband, Prince Harry.

According to Shutter Scoop, a source close to the couple revealed that Prince Harry had requested that Meghan change the launch date, expressing concern over the timing. “He told her, ‘Please, not on Mummy’s birthday,’” the source claimed, adding, “It wasn’t about business — it was about respect.”

The source alleged that the Duke of Sussex, deeply connected to his late mother’s legacy, found the decision especially upsetting. “That day means everything to him,” they said. “To see it turned into a PR push hurts.” Despite Harry’s reported plea, the Duchess allegedly stood firm.

According to the insider, Meghan insisted that the timing of the wine’s release was purely coincidental and told Harry that it was “too late” to reschedule the launch. Another source elaborated on the couple’s reported disagreement, telling the outlet that Meghan had “brushed him [Harry] off” during the discussion.

“She told him, ‘It’s a wine launch, not a memorial.’” The source added, “It didn’t land well.” The situation has allegedly left Prince Harry feeling conflicted—torn between honoring the memory of his mother and supporting his wife’s growing business ventures. “He feels devastated,” said the source.

“He’s trying to be supportive, but it’s difficult.” The decision has stirred debate among royal watchers, with some critics questioning the optics of launching a lifestyle product on a date tied so closely to grief and remembrance for the Duke.

Princess Diana, the beloved mother of Prince Harry and Prince William, was often remembered on July 1 with public tributes, statements, and charitable gestures. While Meghan’s camp has not officially commented on the matter, reports suggest that the As Ever team is moving forward with the rosé wine launch as scheduled.

The product is expected to expand the brand’s reach following the success of its earlier offerings. Whether the controversy will impact public reception remains to be seen. However, the reported disagreement highlights the ongoing challenges the Duke and Duchess of Sussex face as they continue to navigate personal values, public perception, and professional ambitions on the global stage.
