Prince Harry has responded firmly to King Charles’ decision to exclude him from any future role within the monarchy, making it clear that his priority remains his father.
Through a spokesperson, the Duke of Sussex emphasized that speculation about his broader standing within the Royal family would not be addressed.
“The Duke has made it clear that the focus, as it relates to his family, is his father — beyond that, and on any other issues as it relates to the Royal family, we won’t be commenting,” the statement to Page Six read.

The comments come as questions swirl about whether Harry might resume some royal duties following his recent reunion with King Charles at Clarence House in London. Palace insiders, however, insist the King has drawn a line.
Reports suggest Charles has upheld the late Queen Elizabeth II’s firm stance that working royals cannot operate in a “half-in, half-out” capacity. That means the possibility of Harry balancing part-time royal engagements in the UK with life in the United States has been ruled out.
One royal source told the press that Harry’s visit should not be mistaken for an open invitation back into the palace fold. Forgiveness and a return to duties, they stressed, were not on the table.
The issue of Harry’s role has been a recurring point of tension since he and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal responsibilities in 2020. While some supporters have argued for a compromise that allows the Duke to contribute while living abroad, the monarchy has resisted such arrangements.

Despite the firmness of the Palace position, Harry’s brief return to Britain included lighter moments. During his visit, he met singer Joss Stone, who later recounted their conversation to Hello! Magazine.
“He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children,” Stone shared. “It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back.”
Harry’s words about education and community highlighted his ongoing connection to the UK, even as his official role within the Royal family appears permanently closed.
For now, his representatives say, his attention will remain on his father, as King Charles continues to define the future direction of the monarchy.
