During a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, former President Donald Trump was called out by viewers who noticed he “glitched” several times while attempting to form certain words in his speech.
Trump spoke at the rally, where he spent much of his time criticizing the swing state’s GOP governor. Earlier in the day, the governor had responded to Trump’s attacks by telling the former president to leave his “family out of it.”
On stage, Trump appeared to slur his words when discussing Vice President Kamala Harris. “Together we will stop Kamala Harris’ nation renting, ahhh, I’ll tell you what,” Trump said, abruptly changing course mid-sentence, told Newsweek.
The Vice President’s campaign headquarters flagged the video on social media, calling it a “glitch.” They posted, “Trump glitches: ‘Together we will stop Kamala Harris’ nation renting— akfjslk I’ll tell you what…’.”
In another instance, @Acyn highlighted a video where Trump seemed to mix up his words while talking about Harris’s stance on police funding. “She was endorsing defunding the place, and the police and she said violent marbles, let the violent mobs keep going,” Trump said.
“Trump glitching heavily with claims of defunding of the ‘place’ and ‘violent marbs,'” @Acyn wrote, with independent journalist Aaron Rupar interpreting the phrase as, “Violent moarbps.” Writer Mark Jacobs also referred to this as a “glitch.”
Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko expressed concern, saying, “I’m surprised the media is not asking more questions about why no one around him is intervening with what is a clear and continual decline.” He added, “We should also talk about his age.”
Twitter user @JoJoFromJerz commented, “He’s super slurry tonight even for him. Maybe it’s time for him to step aside.”
In another mispronunciation, Trump said, “We will stop the Biden-Harris war on American energy,” and in his concluding remarks, he appeared to slur his words again, stating that “the economy will be roaring back” if he wins the election.
The frequent missteps and slurred words during Trump’s speech have raised questions and concerns about his current state, with many observers noting that these issues could impact his campaign moving forward.
