Trump Slams Elon Musk Over Third Party Move, EV Mandate Dispute

In a fiery post on Sunday, President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk, criticizing his recent political moves and business interests. The criticism follows Musk’s announcement of forming a third political party, a move that could disrupt the traditional two-party landscape and pose challenges for the Republican Party.

Trump aired his grievances on his social media platform, Truth Social, penning what many are calling one of his lengthiest and most personal rants to date. The president expressed frustration and disappointment at Musk’s trajectory in recent weeks.

“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks. He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States – The System seems not designed for them,” Trump wrote.

“The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!”

Trump continued by touting a new legislative victory, which he claims the Republican Party passed smoothly and successfully, emphasizing its historic significance. “Republicans, on the other hand, are a smooth-running ‘machine’ that just passed the biggest Bill of its kind in the History of our Country,” he said.

At the center of Trump’s criticism is the bill’s reversal of what he referred to as the “ridiculous” electric vehicle (EV) mandate, which would have accelerated the shift away from gasoline-powered cars. Trump asserted that the new legislation restores consumer freedom in vehicle choice.

“It is a Great Bill, but, unfortunately for Elon, it eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, which would have forced everyone to buy an Electric Car in a short period of time,” Trump claimed. “I have been strongly opposed to that from the very beginning… He said he had no problems with that – I was very surprised!”

Trump also expressed concern over Musk’s attempts to influence leadership at NASA, claiming a conflict of interest due to Musk’s private sector involvement in space exploration.

“Additionally, Elon asked that one of his close friends run NASA… I also thought it inappropriate that a very close friend of Elon, who was in the Space Business, run NASA, when NASA is such a big part of Elon’s corporate life.” Trump concluded his statement by reaffirming his priorities: “My Number One charge is to protect the American Public!”
