“Justice Must Be Served, Now”: Trump Pressures Bondi to Indict Political Rivals

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social Saturday night with a post that read more like a directive to Attorney General Pam Bondi than a public statement. In it, he demanded swift legal action against several of his political opponents, sparking renewed debate over his use of the Justice Department as a political tool.

Trump appeared to single out Bondi directly in his rant, urging her to indict his rivals. “Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done,” he wrote. He followed with another all-caps declaration: “They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”

The post named three of Trump’s frequent adversaries: Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), former FBI Director James Comey, and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Trump also claimed to have fired Erik Siebert, his own appointee, as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. In reality, Siebert resigned on Friday after facing pressure over his refusal to prosecute Letitia James on allegations of mortgage fraud. Trump had nominated Siebert in May alongside two Democrats, but his resignation appeared inevitable once his position clashed with Trump’s demand for action.

James has pursued a civil fraud case against Trump and his business empire since 2022. In early 2024, she secured a court ruling ordering Trump to pay $450 million. That penalty was overturned in August, but James has remained one of Trump’s most consistent legal adversaries.

In his message, Trump argued that delays in prosecuting his opponents were damaging his credibility. “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” he wrote, adding that he had seen “30” messages from allies urging him to act.

Later, speaking to reporters, Trump clarified that his post was not a criticism of Bondi personally but insisted that swift action was necessary. “One way or the other. They’re guilty, they’re not guilty. We have to act fast,” he said.

Trump’s hostility toward Schiff and Comey stems from their roles in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. He has long dismissed the probe as a “witch hunt” and has repeatedly called for the two men to face prosecution. Trump fired Comey in 2017 and has accused Schiff of mortgage fraud.

At the heart of Trump’s latest outburst is a familiar theme: using the legal system to pursue political payback. Whether Bondi will act on these public demands remains unclear, but Trump’s message once again underscored his push to turn personal grievances into legal battles.
