Trump Mobile Drops ‘Made in USA’ Claim Amid Production Controversy

The Trump Organization has quietly revised its official website for its new cellular venture, Trump Mobile, removing previous claims that its T1 smartphone is “Made in the USA.” The sudden change follows growing skepticism from technology experts and critics who questioned the feasibility of fully domestic phone manufacturing.

Launched on June 16 by Donald Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., Trump Mobile was unveiled as a patriotic tech initiative aimed at offering “top-tier connectivity, unbeatable value, and all-American service.” The flagship T1 device, priced at $499, was initially promoted as both “designed and built in the United States,” with the original website proudly stating the phone was “MADE IN THE USA.”

However, as of this week, sharp-eyed observers noticed that this language has quietly vanished. The updated website now describes the device as being “designed with American values in mind,” without specifying its origin of manufacture.

Despite the edit, a Trump Mobile spokesperson told CNN that “the T1 phones are proudly being made in America. Speculation to the contrary is simply inaccurate.”

Industry experts remain doubtful. As reported by The Hill, most modern smartphones rely on complex international supply chains and are predominantly assembled in Asia. The revised website language appears to reflect these challenges.

Trump Mobile, operating under T1 Mobile LLC, uses network infrastructure from major U.S. carriers — T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon — to offer nationwide 5G service. Its signature offering, “The 47 Plan,” is priced at $47.45 per month, a nod to Donald Trump’s position as the 45th president and his ambitions to become the 47th.

The plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data, device protection, and roadside assistance through Drive America. The phone’s default wallpaper features the slogan “Make America Great Again.”

Eric Trump, speaking at the launch event at Trump Tower, positioned the venture as a solution for everyday Americans. “I’m incredibly excited to step into this new digital space,” he said. “Hard-working Americans deserve a wireless service that’s affordable, reflects their values, and delivers reliable quality they can count on.”

He also emphasized support for military families, adding, “We’re especially proud to offer free long-distance calling to our military members and their families.”

But not all went smoothly. Shortly after launch, a social media user flagged a glaring error on Trump Mobile’s coverage map, which mislabeled the “Gulf of Mexico” — a name Donald Trump had previously attempted to change to the “Gulf of America.”

Adding to the confusion, a disclaimer in the press release revealed that the Trump Organization is not directly involved in the development, sales, or distribution of Trump Mobile products. Instead, T1 Mobile LLC licenses the Trump brand under a limited agreement “which may be terminated or revoked.”

It remains unclear whether a trademark has been filed for Trump Mobile or its associated services.
