Trump Announces Gift of Two Massive Flagpoles for White House Lawns

President Donald Trump has announced the installation of two towering flagpoles on the White House grounds, a move he called his “great honor” and described as a long-overdue enhancement to the historic site.

“It is my Great Honor to announce that I will be putting up two beautiful Flag Poles on both sides of the White House, North and South Lawns,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Tuesday evening. “It is a GIFT from me of something which was always missing from this magnificent place.”

According to Trump, the installation work will begin early Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time, with the flags expected to be raised around 11 a.m. The project involves digging and setting the poles into place on both the North and South Lawns of the White House.

“These are the most magnificent poles made. They are tall, tapered, rust-proof, rope inside the pole, and of the highest quality,” Trump stated. “Hopefully, they will proudly stand on both sides of the White House for many years to come!”

The flagpoles, which are reportedly being paid for personally by Trump, will stand nearly 100 feet tall and fly large American flags. The president emphasized that the addition is a personal contribution and part of a broader vision for enhancing the White House grounds.

The announcement follows recent developments at the White House, where construction projects ordered by Trump have already begun. Earlier this month, crews started paving over sections of the Rose Garden and preparing the lawns for the installation of flagpoles.

In addition to the flagpoles, Trump has expressed interest in a series of interior and exterior renovations, according to reports from The Associated Press. These include installing new artwork of himself, adding gold-toned decorative elements in the Oval Office, and even building a new ballroom.

These updates are part of Trump’s wider aesthetic vision, which has often emphasized grandeur and symbolism. The flagpoles, in particular, appear to serve as both a patriotic statement and a personal legacy project.

Critics have raised concerns over the historic integrity of the White House grounds, while supporters see the changes as bold tributes to national pride. As the poles are installed, all eyes will be on the transformation of the executive residence, which continues to reflect the personality and preferences of its most recent inhabitant.
