Steve Bannon Explodes on Air—Claims ‘Deep State Ambush’ in Trump War Chat Scandal

MAGA influencer Steve Bannon fiercely defended Trump administration officials embroiled in a controversy involving a leaked Signal group chat that reportedly exposed classified information. Speaking on his “War Room” podcast on Tuesday, Bannon accused Democratic lawmakers of orchestrating an “ambush” to exploit the situation politically.

“They want a scalp,” Bannon declared, targeting Democratic critics. “This is the deep state rising up and coming after President Trump publicly, with the fangs bared.” Bannon’s heated remarks came in response to a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, which took place following an explosive report by The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg.

The report revealed that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly shared sensitive military plans within a Signal chat group that inadvertently included a journalist. The former Trump adviser questioned the hearing’s timing, suggesting that it was strategically planned as part of a broader political maneuver. “Do you think that it was just random that this hearing was held today?” Bannon asked his audience rhetorically.

“No, they knew they had a previously scheduled intelligence briefing today and this is where they were going to ambush, and that’s what this was, an ambush, the senior intelligence officials of the President Trump administration,” he said passionately.

Bannon advised administration officials to remain silent and refrain from further public engagement on the matter, asserting, “Don’t engage them. You don’t need to talk about anything. It’s under review.”

He specifically commended Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, stating that she “was absolutely accurate” during her testimony at the hearing, despite facing bipartisan criticism over the incident.

Bannon’s rhetoric escalated further as he portrayed the ongoing controversy as part of a coordinated effort by various opposition forces within and outside the government. He described the unfolding events as “a pincer move,” emphasizing his belief in a conspiracy involving “the radical judiciary, the deep state,” and adding, “I’m gonna throw one a little of the resistance moving on top of it, the color revolution.”

Bannon’s aggressive defense highlights the deeply polarized reactions following revelations surrounding the national security breach, underscoring ongoing partisan disputes over accountability, transparency, and the conduct of public officials amid sensitive national security issues.
