Marjorie Taylor Greene faces party outrage after joining Epstein files event

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is facing fierce backlash from fellow Republicans and prominent voices in the MAGA movement after she appeared at a news conference about legislation calling for the release of files connected to Jeffrey Epstein.

The Wednesday event was organized by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) to promote the Epstein Files Transparency Bill. The legislation aims to require the White House to release all Epstein-related records still being withheld. Survivors of Epstein’s crimes, along with those of his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, also participated in the event.

Although the focus was on transparency, Greene’s appearance alongside Democrats and critics of Donald Trump sparked outrage within her own party. Many supporters of the president claimed the event was intended as a veiled attack on him. MAGA activist Laura Loomer condemned Greene’s decision to take part.

“Marjorie Traitor Greene and Thomas Massie teamed up with #MeToo attorney Gloria Allred today at the Epstein press conference, a calculated effort to smear President Trump and falsely suggest he’s protecting Jeffrey Epstein,” Loomer wrote on X.

She went further, saying, “MTG is a FRAUD, and a phony, two-faced b—- who used Trump to advance her career. Now that she can’t run for US Senate or Governor of Georgia with Trump’s endorsement, she’s lashing out, trying to pretend like Trump is a pedophile.”

Another group, Gays For Trump, called Greene’s presence “reprehensible.” Their post on X read, “For any Republican member of Congress to stand in front of signs calling President Donald Trump a pedophile, on the Epstein List, is not only reprehensible, but should be grounds for an IMMEDIATE expulsion vote by the GOP majority in the House!”

The outrage did not stop there. MAGA supporter Cynthia Holt unleashed a profane message on X, writing, “F— Bannon, F— Benny, F— Massie, F— MTG! F— every last one of you backstabbing c—-.” Greene has not publicly responded to the mounting criticism.

Her involvement in the bipartisan push for the Epstein Files Transparency Bill highlights a growing tension between Republicans seeking distance from the Epstein scandal and Trump loyalists determined to shield the president from association.

The controversy underscores Greene’s shifting position within her own party. Once firmly aligned with Trump’s base, she now faces accusations of betrayal for engaging in a legislative effort that critics frame as an attack on the president. Whether the bill moves forward or not, Greene’s decision to appear at the press conference has clearly deepened divisions among Republicans.
