In a dramatic turn of events, New York Attorney General Letitia James, who famously led the charge against Donald Trump, is now facing allegations of mortgage fraud herself, according to the New York Post.
According to documents revealed on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, accusing James of falsifying mortgage records to secure better loan terms. FHFA Director William Pulte flagged what he described as “serious concerns” in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
At the centre of the allegations is a property in Virginia that James allegedly listed as her primary residence — a claim that may not hold water given her role as an elected New York official. The referral also claims James misrepresented a New York property as having four units instead of five, which would have allowed her to benefit from different mortgage terms.
It doesn’t end there. In a shocking claim, legal experts say James also allegedly listed her father as her husband on mortgage documents dating back to the 1980s and early 2000s. The documents reportedly describe the two as “husband and wife” — a move that could have changed her loan classification and benefits.
