‘Never Seen This Before’: Lauren Boebert Submits Blank Financial Disclosure for 2024

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), known for her far-right politics and fiery public persona, has drawn fresh scrutiny after filing a 2024 financial disclosure report that revealed, quite literally, nothing.

Colorado Public Radio reporter Caitlyn Kim expressed surprise at the unusual filing, stating, “This is a first for me,” while sharing images of the report on social media. “CO Rep. Lauren Boebert’s financial disclosure for 2024 discloses nothing. No book royalties (it was in her last disclosure), no bank accounts, no home mortgage.”

The absence of any declared assets or income beyond her congressional salary sparked confusion and questions about Boebert’s financial standing. Previously, Boebert reported at least some income from her book and joint assets with her former husband.

Boebert, a polarizing figure who has clashed even with fellow hard-right Republicans like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), narrowly won re-election in 2022 by just a few hundred votes in her western Colorado district. In 2023, she announced a move to run in a more conservative district on the eastern side of the state, citing strategic political reasons.

According to reporter Caitlyn Kim, some of the apparent financial void may stem from Boebert’s personal life changes: “She is divorced and is starting over. In past disclosures, the only asset that was hers was her book. Otherwise, it was a joint bank account, and other assets were her ex-husband’s.”

Boebert filed for divorce in 2023 from Jayson Boebert, her husband of 20 years, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The split was followed by a string of personal controversies, including an incident at a Denver theater where Boebert was ejected from a performance of Beetlejuice for vaping, disruptive behavior, and public intimacy with her date.

Following the new disclosure, Business Insider’s senior politics reporter Bryan Metzger commented on Boebert’s financial position, writing, “With the caveat that she makes $174,000 per year and doesn’t have to disclose the value of any personal residence, Boebert is likely one of the poorest members of Congress.”

The congresswoman has also been in the spotlight for her recent public appearances alongside pro-Trump musician Kid Rock. The pair’s connection sparked a wave of speculation after Kid Rock ended his engagement of seven years, though no official confirmation of a relationship has been made. As the 2024 election approaches, Boebert’s financial disclosures—and her headline-grabbing personal life—continue to be closely watched.
