Far-right activist and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer goes to great lengths to impress President Donald Trump, even buying a new outfit each time they meet. A detailed New York Times profile reveals Loomer’s deep admiration for Trump and her fixation on his well-known emphasis on physical appearance.
“Every time I go and see the president,” Loomer told the Times, “I always buy a new outfit, because I want to look my best.” Loomer, 32, rose to prominence through controversial and often inflammatory rhetoric, gaining national attention for her conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 and the 2020 presidential election.
But the report offers a deeper, more personal portrait of the Tucson native, delving into her early struggles with mental health, body image, and family trauma. “If anybody is a victim, it’s me,” Loomer said of her difficult childhood. “I was subjected to a lot of adversities that a lot of other people would not have been able to overcome, and I’m proud of myself for that. I think I did a good job.”
The report outlines a turbulent family life. Her parents divorced when she was just 11. One of her younger brothers suffered from extreme behavioral issues, requiring multiple hospitalizations. According to the Times, he violently attacked their mother, was later placed in a group home, and eventually attempted to choke their father.

Loomer also opened up about her personal battle with obesity during her teenage years. Weighing more than 200 pounds, she recalled feeling excluded by fashion norms and breaking down in tears in the bathroom when clothes didn’t fit. Now weighing 125 pounds, she remains highly self-aware, particularly in the presence of Trump.
“Picking at her scallops, which she ordered despite her fondness for steak, Ms. Loomer added, ‘I’ve got to stay thin,'” the Times reported. Her desire to remain visually appealing underscores what she believes to be Trump’s priorities when it comes to public image. “She’s hyper-conscious of the value Mr. Trump places on appearance,” the article noted.
Though known for her far-right activism, it’s Loomer’s vulnerabilities, anxieties, and lifelong quest for approval — especially from the former president — that dominate the report, offering a complex portrait of a figure both defiant and deeply self-conscious.
