Gov. Pritzker Throws Shade at Kristi Noem Ahead of Her Visit with Savage Warning and Hilarious Dig

Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) launched a sharp, veiled criticism of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Tuesday, issuing a snarky advisory ahead of her scheduled visit to Illinois.

Noem, a prominent MAGA Republican, is set to hold a news conference in Springfield on Wednesday to discuss the state’s sanctuary policies. However, before Noem’s arrival, Pritzker’s office released an email laced with humor aimed at the controversial politician.

“We would urge all pet owners in the region to make sure all of your beloved animals are under watchful protection while the Secretary is in the region,” the governor’s office wrote, according to Tina Sfondeles, political reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times.

This was a clear jab at Noem’s controversial admission last year that she killed her family dog for misbehavior. In her memoir, Noem wrote, “I hated that dog.” The remark had already drawn significant criticism, and Pritzker’s office wasted no time in making light of it.

But the snark didn’t stop there. The email also aimed at Noem’s public image, specifically her penchant for wearing outfits resembling law enforcement uniforms. “Secretary Noem has often been spotted on television cosplaying law enforcement officers,” the advisory read. “Media are invited to capture her latest costume upon arrival,” it added, poking fun at what it described as Noem’s “reality television style of governance.”

Noem’s visit to Illinois follows a new lawsuit filed by the Trump administration accusing the state of unlawfully discouraging businesses from using E-Verify, the federal system meant to verify the citizenship of workers. The timing of Pritzker’s sarcastic email is no coincidence, as tensions have escalated between the state and federal government over immigration-related policies.

This latest spat between Pritzker and Noem is just one in a long series of clashes between Democratic and Republican governors, particularly over issues such as sanctuary policies and immigration enforcement. Pritzker’s tongue-in-cheek remarks serve to underscore the broader political divide and the animosity that continues to simmer between state leaders on opposing sides of the aisle.
