Former President Joe Biden was recently seen with a bandage on his forehead, covering what has now been confirmed as the result of surgery to remove skin cancer. According to The Daily Beast, Biden, 82, underwent Mohs surgery, a procedure in which thin layers of skin are removed until no signs of cancer remain.
“Biden, 82, received Mohs surgery, a spokesperson told the Daily Beast, a procedure in which thin layers of skin are cut away until no signs of cancer remain,” reported Erkki Foster.
The surgery adds to the former president’s ongoing health challenges. Earlier this year, Biden revealed he is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. The advanced stage of the illness led medical experts to suggest he may have had the cancer for years before it was detected.

Prostate cancer often produces few or mild symptoms in its early stages, making it difficult to identify before it progresses. Following his diagnosis, Biden shared a message of resilience and gratitude. “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.
Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” he wrote. The news of Biden’s health struggles has fueled ongoing speculation about his fitness for leadership, concerns that ultimately shaped his political future. Initially seeking re-election, he later withdrew from the race after senior Democratic officials and much of the electorate raised doubts about his ability to serve another term, particularly in light of his age and medical challenges.
Cancer has been a central theme in Biden’s personal and political life. His elder son, Beau Biden, died of brain cancer in 2015, a loss the family has long attributed to toxic exposure during his military service. The tragedy helped drive Biden’s commitment to making cancer research and treatment a national priority during his time in public office.

Biden’s most recent surgery is the latest reminder of the serious health issues confronting the former president as he steps back from politics. Though no longer seeking the presidency, his health updates continue to draw public attention, reflecting both concern for his personal well-being and recognition of his legacy of championing cancer awareness and research.
