Joe Biden’s recent prostate cancer diagnosis has ignited a political and medical firestorm, with a bombshell new book and medical commentary raising questions about how long his health had been deteriorating — and how much was concealed from the public.
On May 18, Biden’s office confirmed that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer, which has already metastasized to his bones. The announcement followed weeks of speculation, culminating in a statement that cited a “Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5)” — a classification indicating advanced and fast-growing cancer.
According to a spokesperson, the condition was discovered during a routine physical earlier in the month after Biden began experiencing “increasing urinary symptoms.” The White House statement assured that the cancer appeared to be hormone-sensitive and manageable with treatment.

Yet, questions about the president’s health go far deeper, particularly in light of revelations from CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson in their newly released book, Original Sin. The authors allege that Biden was in declining health even before his diagnosis was made public, with insiders claiming he had been struggling throughout the final months of his presidency.
One striking allegation from the book states that Biden failed to recognize his longtime ally and friend George Clooney at a 2024 fundraiser. Clooney would later write an op-ed urging the president to withdraw from the race.
The book also claims that Biden’s inner circle, referred to by some as “the Politburo,” shielded the full extent of his health issues to preserve his 2024 re-election campaign. “It was an abomination,” said one Democratic strategist quoted in the book. “He stole an election from the Democratic Party; he stole it from the American people.”
Adding to the controversy, Manhattan internist Dr. Stuart Fischer, who has not treated Biden, told RadarOnline, “Usually, cancers are on the inside of the prostate and cannot be felt. But if the cancer is large enough to be felt on the outside, it may have already spread to vital organs like the lungs and bones.” Fischer predicted grimly, “It’s quite possible that Biden has as little as six months to live!”

Biden addressed his diagnosis with a heartfelt message on social media: “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
Ultimately, the president stepped down from the 2024 race following a poor debate performance against Donald Trump, clearing the path for then-Vice President Kamala Harris to run in his place. As speculation continues, so too does the debate over transparency, leadership, and Biden’s legacy, as per the BBC.
